About Marshland Creative

Marshland Creative was born in a repurposed schoolhouse on a quiet piece of South Louisiana land, built by hand, one stem at a time, by a mama who believes nothing beautiful should ever go to waste.

About the Artist

I am Lacey Guidroz, a South Louisiana maker, safety professional, and mama to two wild boys. I grew up on jobsites alongside my dad and grandfather, both carpenters who built homes across Acadiana the same way generations before them did, with skilled hands, quality materials, and nothing going to waste. My uncle carried that same ethic into commercial construction. When it was time to build my own home, my dad showed up with his tools and called it his retirement gig and final sendoff. We fought like cats and dogs the entire time and I would not trade a single minute of it. I know how to swing a hammer, drive a nail, and figure out what something needs to hold together. That same instinct shows up in every arrangement I build.

My mom built a career in sales in the oil and gas industry before becoming a top-producing realtor in Florida, and she taught me that relationships, trust, and showing up with confidence are the foundation of any business worth building. I carry that into every client conversation, every funeral home partnership, and every bride I sit across from.

My grandmother, who is 101 years old and still going strong, is a master seamstress, a gifted baker, and every fig season she cans what her backyard grows because nothing gets lost on her watch. She taught me that handmade is not a lesser version of something. It is the better version.

My other grandmother is a pastor, a women’s counselor, and the founder of Heritage Christian Academy, where she poured herself into educating and shaping young people from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She has spent her life holding space for people in their hardest moments and building something that outlasts her. I think about her every time I design a Legacy Collection suite or deliver a graveside arrangement, because I know that flowers in a moment of grief are not decoration. They are ministry.

I grew up hunting the marsh, and eating food that used every last piece because that is simply how South Louisiana lives. Nothing disposable. Everything made with purpose and intention.

Rooted in tradition. Designed with intention.

About the Flowers

Marshland Creative crafts beautiful florals using wood flowers, known as sola flowers, sola wood flowers, or shola flowers. These flowers are grown from a marshy plant in regions like India and Thailand. Handmade from sola wood, derived from the plant used for tapioca, our flowers come from trusted suppliers with quality control being of utmost importance. Sola flowers are lightweight and have a foamy texture, creating a completely realistic flower look.

How to Care for Your Wooden Flowers

Your Marshland Creative piece will last for years with minimal care.

Dust gently using a can of air held 8 to 10 inches away, or a blow dryer on the cool setting. Keep your arrangement out of direct sunlight and away from moisture. Unpainted sola wood will naturally warm to an ivory tone over time, which only adds to the character.
